May 2011 Schedule of Events



FRIDAY, MAY 6th. 2011, 8:00 pm.- The St. Ubaldo Society will be hosting "Hospitality Night" at the St. Ubaldo Cultural Center. A brief program will be held officially announcing the May Events in Jessup, including the Wine Tasting, St. Ubaldo Society Events. Announcing of the 2010 Capodieci and Swordsman. 50/50 raffle. Entertainment, Hors d'ouvres and a Cash bar will be available… $5.00

SATURDAY, MAY 14th. 2011, Beginning at 4:00pm. there will be a Mass at St. Mary’s Church, 3rd. Ave. Jessup in Honor of the Feast of St. Ubaldo. Following a procession to the St. Ubaldo Cultural Center, a Dinner will be hosted by The Family of Saint Ubaldo. The cost is $20.00.

SATURDAY, MAY 21st. 2011, 8:00pm-12 - The Family of Saint Anthony "One Week To Go" Party at the Jessup American Legion on Church St. Cost is $5.00. Entertainment. 50/50 and Wine Basket Raffle. Pizza and Finger Foods will be available. Cash Bar. “VIVA SANT’ ANTONIO!”

Sunday, May 22nd. 2011, 1:00-4:00 pm. -The Jessup 21st. Century committee will hold their 15th. Annual Wine Festival Event at Station Park in Jessup. Jessup winemakers will be on hand for a sampling of their finest wines.
The St. Ubaldo Society will be selling T-shirts, Hats, Fazzoletto’s, Flags etc…

Monday, May 23rd. 2011, 5:00-8:00pm. - Porchetta Sandwich Sale at the St. Ubaldo Cultural Center. The cost is 2 for $5.00. Tickets will be sold by Society Members. 7:00pm.- Veneration of the Most Holy Relic of St. Ubaldo. This will take place at the St. Ubaldo Cultural Center. A small prayer service followed by decoration of St. Mary’s Church in preparation of the St. Ubaldo Week of Events.

Tuesday, May 24th. 2011, 6:00pm. - The Family of St. George Frittata dinner at St. George’s Restaurant, 304 Church St. Jessup. Cash bar. 50/50 raffle. (Cost TBA) “VIVA SAN GIORGIO!”

Wednesday, May 25th. 2011 - At 5:00p.m. a practice for the Ceraioli will be held at Jessup Veterans Memorial Field. At 8:00pm. The St. Ubaldo Society Clam Bake will be held at the Jessup VFW on Second Ave. Hosted by the Family of Saint Ubaldo. All participants are welcome. There will be a $10.00 cover charge for food and beverages.


Thursday, May 26th. 2011, 8:00 pm.- A St. Ubaldo Society Social will be held at the Jessup American Legion featuring Entertainment by Gabriele. Dancing, finger foods and refreshments. Free to the public. A 50/50 drawing will be held to defray the cost of the Social. A basket raffle donated by the families of St. Ubaldo, St. George, and St. Anthony will also be held.

Friday, May 27th. 2011, 6:00pm.- Saint Ubaldo Day Officials along with participants from the Families of St. Ubaldo, St. George and St. Anthony will meet at Grassy Island Avenue and Mylert Street for the Annual Firemen’s Parade.

Saturday, May 28th. 2011   “St. Ubaldo Day”

*7:00 am. -The St. Ubaldo Band will travel throughout the streets of Jessup awakening the town.
*7:30am.- Society officers and members of the families of St. Ubaldo, St. George, and St. Anthony and will gather at St. Johns Cemetery in Jessup for a brief ceremony honoring past Ceraioli.
*8:15 am.- Society officers and members of each families will then gather at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Montdale for a brief ceremony honoring the past Ceraioli.
*10:00am.- All participants will gather at the St. Ubaldo Cultural Center to receive their “Fiore” and organize for a procession to the Mass. Coffee and Dolce will be available.
*10:30am.- Procession to St. Mary’s Church. 3rd. Ave. Jessup
*11:00am.- St. Ubaldo Day Mass honoring St. Ubaldo, St. George, and St. Anthony.
*12:00pm.- The Alzata or “Raising of the Saints” will take place outside St. Mary’s Church, beginning with a blessing and the tossing of the Brocce.

*1:00pm.- A luncheon buffet (“Tavola Buona per la Ceraioli“) will be held at The St. Ubaldo Cultural Center. All ceraioli and participants dressed in their respective colors are welcome! Outdoor seating may be available (details TBA)
*5:00pm. -A procession with the Most Holy Relic of St. Ubaldo will begin at the corner of Mylert St. and Grassy Island Ave. It will proceed to the beginning of the “Corsa Dei Ceri” on Powell Ave. and Ward St.
*5:30 pm. -After a blessing with the St. Ubaldo Relic the “Corsa dei Ceri” will take place throughout the streets of Jessup!
*8:00pm. -Shortly after ending the “Corsa” at the Jessup Veterans Memorial Field, a procession will be held returning the Saints and the Ceri to St. James Church. The Families of St. Ubaldo, St. George, and St. Anthony will have a Social at their respective “Homes” of each Saint Families. (St. Ubaldo- Jessup VFW, St. George-St. George’s Restaurant, St. Anthony- Pietro’s Restaurant.) Please contact any family member for more information…

Sunday, May 29th. 2011
*10:00am. -All children will meet at St. Mary’s Church 3rd. Ave. Jessup.
Children can obtain a shirt, fazzoletto, and sash if they do not have one. They must wear white pants. (girls can wear skirts or shorts)
Children will participate in the 11:00am. mass honoring the Saints. 
*12:00pm. -The Alzata or “Raising of the Saints” will take place, beginning with a blessing and the tossing of the Brocce.
*1:00pm.- The Children’s “Corsa dei Ceri” will begin at the corner of Ward St. and Powell Ave. following a blessing. 
The Children’s race will end at the Jessup Veterans Memorial Field.
*2:30pm. -Immediately following the event, lunch will be provided for the children at the field. Participants under 14 years of age will also receive wristbands for the Firemen’s Carnival.
